History
MEDREC was founded in 1974 by one of its current owners, Philip Knight-Sheen, as a Nurse recruitment firm in San Antonio, Texas. Philip Knight-Sheen, a British Registered Nurse who came to the United States in 1960, provided the experience and guidance to develop MEDREC into one of the leading international nurse recruitment firms in the United States.
In 1982, MEDREC was purchased by National Medical Enterprises (NME) and continued to operate in San Antonio, Texas under that corporate name. Philip Knight-Sheen was hired as the Vice-President of NME for the international recruitment division. After five lucrative years, National Medical Enterprises reorganized and MEDREC was released back to Philip Knight-Sheen.
In 1992, MEDREC opened the Therapist division. This new division focused solely on Therapists and promoting the therapy industry.
In 1999, Peter Knight-Sheen joined the MEDREC team as Vice President. Over the next several years, MEDREC grew from a small organization to the largest PRN and contract therapy company in Texas. In 2001, 2002, and 2003, MEDREC was awarded the San Antonio Business Journal's FAST TRACK award.
In 2005, Steven Lee Tucker joined the MEDREC Team as the Vice President. Steven came to MEDREC after leading his hospital as its CEO to be number one out of 99 hospitals nationwide.
In 2006, Peter Knight-Sheen became President of MEDREC.
In 2006, MEDREC officially launches its Nationwide Travel Division.
Today MEDREC is still a leader in the recruitment profession. Philip Knight-Sheen is an elected board member of the Texas Physical Therapy Education and Research Foundation and enjoys the respect of fellow healthcare providers around the world. Peter Knight-Sheen has positioned the company to provide a consistent quality and value based service to the Texas Market. Steve Tucker is now growing the Traveling Therapist Division to be the Largest in the country!
