What brought you to Medrec?
I was working for a full service staffing agency in Spokane, WA when I took a position in the DFW area to move back home to be around family. I immediately realized I missed the industry and fortunately came across an opening at Medrec. As soon as I met with Becki Mitchell, the Branch Manager for the DWF branch, I knew Medrec was the place for me.
Tell us about your family.
Most of my family live in North Dallas area where I grew up in Little Elm. I have a 13-year old daughter, Brittani who keeps me busy and is the light of my life. Both Brittani and I are very happy to be back in Texas and surrounded by those we love.
What is something that most people do not know about you?
Most people are not aware of my love for the great outdoors. I really enjoy hiking, camping, rafting and fishing. I do miss that about Spokane. So if anyone knows of any great spots here, please let me know.
Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Little Elm, TX although I graduated from Plano East Sr. High.

What do you like best about your job, and/or current assignment?
Medrec has a great group of people working here. I have thoroughly enjoyed meeting everyone within the company. It is so nice to work around people with great attitudes that love their job. I am very pleased to be a part of the team.
What do you do when you are not at work?
After work you will find me at the gym in a cycling, step aerobics or yoga class. This is what I do for therapy. I usually jam pack the weekends hanging out with family and friends, but what I really love to do is watch TV and movies at home on the couch in my sweats.
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
I have never been to Mexico. I would love to go to Cabo San Lucus. Why? Beautiful beaches, hammocks, margaritas, snorkeling, deep sea fishing. Why not? |

November 2008. We made it to November, and boy do we have a lot to be thankful for. With the yoyo of the stock market and the looming recession I see how some folks might find it difficult to give thanks. The fact is as an American, we are all equally lucky to be an American. Here are a few reasons to be thankful:
• We’ve just witnessed my generation’s “moon landing” with the election of Barak Obama. Regardless of your preference, there is no denying that our great country’s majority selected the first African American as president. Considering our country’s history, this truly is a remarkable event and I am proud to have voted, and proud to be an American.
• Tuesday, Nov 11th is Veteran’s Day. I’m thankful for all those men and women that have sacrificed much if not everything to create, protect and preserve our freedom.
• For the love, respect and help received from family and friends
• For the mercy God showed our beloved Chairman’s wife, Carol Haberman-Knight-Sheen, taking her to be with the saints in Heaven.
I leave you now with Abraham Lincoln’s Thanksgiving Proclamation:
"We have been the recipients of the choicest bounties of heaven; we have been preserved these many years in peace and prosperity; we have grown in numbers, wealth and power as no other nation has ever grown. But we have forgotten God. We have forgotten the gracious hand which preserved us in peace and multiplied and enriched and strengthened us, and we have vainly imagined, in the deceitfulness of our hearts, that all these blessings were produced by some superior wisdom and virtue of our own. Intoxicated with unbroken success, we have become too self-sufficient to feel the necessity of redeeming and preserving grace, too proud to pray to the God that made us.
It has seemed to me fit and proper that [the gifts of God] should be solemnly, reverently, and gratefully acknowledged with one heart and one voice by the whole American people. I do, therefore, invite my fellow citizens . . . to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November next as a day of thanksgiving and praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the heavens."

United Concordia Dental offers the following suggestions to keep everyone smiling this month and year-round:
• Establish and keep daily flossing and brushing routine. Proper brushing includes not only your teeth but also your gums, tongue, and cheeks as well. And don’t skip flossing. It is necessary to remove particles between teeth.
• To help motivate children to maintain their oral hygiene, parents are encouraged to have children brush to a favorite song. Since most songs last two to three minutes, this will encourage children to brush for the recommended two minutes each time.
• Place a limit on how many sweets are eaten, and mix in healthy snacks such as vegetables, yogurt and cheese. Munching on aged cheeses like Swiss and aged cheddar can actually help prevent tooth decay.
• Try to avoid candy that sticks to teeth. The best candy choices can be chewed and swallowed quickly. Plaque uses the sugar to produce acids that can destroy the hard surface of teeth, and the longer these sugars are in the mouth, the more damage can be done.
• Use sweets as desserts instead of grazing throughout the day. It is best to eat sweets after mealtime when there is more moisture present in the mouth to help wash away the extra sugar.
• Finally, remember that everyone should have dental exams, including very young children. Starting within six months of the child’s first tooth and no later than the child’s first birthday, he or she should have an exam twice a year. Parents should set a good example for their kids by getting regular dental checkups themselves.
• “Often signs of certain diseases will appear in the mouth before they appear elsewhere, which means a dental checkup could detect more than just a cavity” said United Concordia Dental’s vice president of Professional Affairs and National Dental Director, Dr. Richard P. Klich. “In addition, research suggests that certain oral diseases and conditions may be linked to health problems in other parts of the body.”
