10 Minutes with:
Becki Mitchell, Dallas Branch Manager |
What brought you to Medrec?
A friend called and asked if he could pass my name along to Medrec. He told me they were looking to open a branch in the DFW area and needed a branch manager. I spoke with Peter, and I knew that I had found my home. Peter was great, and the staff were all very welcoming. I went home from the interview and knew that this was the job I was looking for.
Tell us about your family.
I am married to a wonderful guy named Billy, and we have 4 children (2 boys and 2 girls). Three of the kids are married, and the youngest boy starts college this year. We have also been blessed with 5 granddaughters from the age of 4 years down to seven weeks. We are all very close.
What is something that most people do not know about you?
I have been in the therapy staffing business for over 15 years. I started as a receptionist, advanced up to an Area Manager, and even held a position in corporate. The therapy staffing business is truly my life. |
Where did you grow up?
I live in Irving Texas, right outside of Dallas.
How would your family and friends describe you?
I called someone to ask this question, and the answer: “family oriented, dedicated friend, mother, grandmother and deathly afraid of dogs.” Sounded like me, especially the dog part. |
 |
What do you like best about your job, and/or current assignment?
I enjoy working with people. I like meeting new people and getting to know our therapists and clients.
What do you do when you are not at work?
My husband and I enjoy spending time together and visiting with family. Our family is our life. We would like to travel some in the next few years.
What is a job experience you will never forget?
I will never forget relocating therapists to Texas when Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans. We moved families here and gave the therapists a job, set the family up in housing and made sure they had the resources that they needed. The best thing was that my staff and I shopped for toys and made sure the kids knew us and our families so that they would feel comfortable if we needed to help. The families were so appreciative, and a lot of them are in Ft Worth, Texas still today.
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
Montana ... I have seen such beautiful pictures from that area and I would love to see the beautiful mountains and landscape.
Anything else you would like us to know about you?
I am thrilled to be back in the therapy staffing business and now working for Medrec! |

Message from the President |
| |
| We strive to bring the best service to our Therapists and our clients every day. Because of our crazy growth right now, we have several new folks, we’re opening the Dallas/Fort Worth office on 9/2, and we’re moving our corporate office to a much nicer and larger space. In the process of doing this, we have had to deal with a few dozen vendors: phone, internet, computers, servers, phone system, general construction contractors, and every other kind of service provider you can imagine. |
 |
It’s funny that in most conversations involving any of those vendors I mentioned, there is usually a grimace and/or a horror story that goes along with it. Every time I deal with a vendor, I actively compare their service and the service that we provide at Medrec. For instance… I sit on hold for 10 minutes only to be transferred to someone’s voice mail, or when I call a company and can only get through to the auto attendant that tells me that “your call is of the utmost importance to us” and then asks me to key in the first 6 digits of the person’s last name that I don’t know; or the vendor that when I finally get them on the phone says, “We can pick up your furniture on 9/5, no problem. But we can’t deliver it until 10/4. Will that be a problem?” I’m constantly reminded of a scene in the Chris Farley movie “Tommy Boy” when Tommy is at the airport trying to get to Chicago on the next flight and the rep says, “I can’t get you to Chicago, but I can get you to Miami. Will that help?” and Tommy looks at her and says…”Hi, I’m Earth. Have we met?” and the rep says, “I’ don’t think so” with a big empty look on her face. Service can be painful. I can tell you that we strive every day to deliver the very best service. We do things like answer the phones… and everyone that answers Medrec phones is EMPOWERED to help the caller. We provide cell phones in case you need to reach us after hours. We have implemented several quality control points to ensure you and your career are not only taken care of, but that your experience is first class. Because at Medrec, we’re “in sync with you”.

A Few Words from Human Resources |
Control Healthcare Cost
Knowing when to seek treatment at an urgent care center vs. an emergency room can lower cost for your employees when their doctors aren’t available. Some guidelines:
Urgent Care Centers:
For a minor injury or illness: for example, flu symptoms, a sinus infection, minor cut or animal bite.
- Usually don’t require appointments
- Are open later than most doctors’ offices
-Typically provide faster, more affordable care than a hospital emergency room
Hospital Emergency Room:
For a serious medical situation, such as a stroke or a heart attack. Symptoms that require immediate emergency care include:
- Chest pain
- Trouble breathing
- Poisoning
- Bleeding or vomiting that won’t stop
- Major burns, cuts or breaks
To pay the least out of pocket, use an urgent care center or emergency room in Humana’s Network.
